Frequently Asked Questions

If yours are different, just ask!

Q: Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?
A: No. Yoga will improve your flexibility, but everyone works to improve at their own level. You might be surprised to find that you’re flexible in directions that you didn’t even know about!

Q: Can I do yoga with a bad back/knees/neck?
A: Yes, yes, yes. Yoga can greatly help to improve complaints of this kind. The important thing is to practice correctly and safely, with a teacher who is qualified to deal with your condition.

Q: Can I do yoga if I’m pregnant?
A: Yes. Yoga is a great boon for pregnancy and childbirth, giving the openness and confidence needed for all its related physical, hormonal and emotional changes. If you have a normal pregnancy and some experience of Iyengar yoga you can continue with your regular classes. If you have complications with your pregnancy then we will refer you to a senior teacher.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Please wear shorts/leggings. Many people think that loose clothing is ideal for yoga, but it is important for your teacher to be able to see clearly what you are doing in order to make the appropriate corrections and adjustments. Bare feet are also essential in class.

Q: Can I park at Hereford Yoga Centre?
A: We have a few parking spaces for students to use. We also actively promote sustainable transport. Walk or cycle if you can, and look on the noticeboard for opportunities for car-sharing!
